Carolina (Lina) Vilhelmina Sandell-Berg , née Sandell (born October 3, 1832 in Fröderyd near Småland , † July 26, 1903 in Stockholm ) was a Swedish poet who became popular with her religious songs. Lina Sandell usually signed LS , with her maiden name (i.e. without her husband's last name) or with both in various variations.

Lina Sandell was an editor at her husband's (Carl Oscar Berg) book publisher in Stockholm . Above all, she wrote texts for use in Sunday schools. She published the Berättelser för söndagsskolan (1870–1874), Samlade sånger (2 volumes, 1882–1885), the Korsblomman calendar (1865–1902) and numerous translations. From 1889 she was editor for the magazine Barnens vän . She wrote a total of 1700 texts, including the lyrics to Tryggare kan ingen vara , Blott en dag and Jag kan icke räkna dem alla .

Lina Sandell Berg died in 1903. Her own words are written on the gravestone of the cemetery in Solna : «Tryggare kan ingen vara än Guds lilla barnaskara».

In her birthplace ( Fröderyds prästgård ) there is now a small museum (Lina Sandell-gården); in the garden there is a statue of Axel Wallenberg, which shows Lina Sandell.

The Norwegian record company Kirkelig Kulturverksted released the album Blott en dag in 1998 , on which the singer Carola Maria Häggkvist sings the songs of Sandell.
