Lindsay Hanekom (born May 15, 1993 in Cape Town ) is a South African athlete who specializes in the 400 meter hurdles .

Athletic career

Lindsay Hanekom gained his first international experience at the Summer Universiade 2015 in Gwangju , where he made it to the semi-finals in the 400-meter hurdles, but was eliminated there with 50.36 seconds. In addition, he reached the finals with the South African 4 x 400 meter relay, but was disqualified there. The following year he qualified for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where he was eliminated with 50.22 s in the run . In 2019 he took part in the Africa Games in Rabat for the first time and finished fifth there in 49.98 s. He also qualified for the World Championships in Doha , where he was eliminated with 51.71 s in the first round .

In 2018 and 2019 Hanekom was South African champion in the 400-meter hurdles and in 2016 in the 4-by-400-meter relay.
