Lindsey Islands

The Lindsey Islands are a group of islands off the Walgreen coast of West Antarctic Ellsworthland . They are located just off the northwestern tip of the Canisteo Peninsula in the Amundsen Sea .

The islands were mapped on the basis of aerial photographs of the US American Operation Highjump (1946-1947) from December 1946. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named them in 1960 after Alton Anthony Lindsey (1907-1999), a biologist on the second Antarctic expedition (1933-1935) ) by the American polar explorer Richard Evelyn Byrd .
