Linus Geisler

Linus S. Geisler (* 1934 ) is a German doctor and scientist. He was an expert on two enquête commissions of the German Bundestag and is the author of numerous publications.

Life

From 1954 to 1958 Geisler studied human medicine at the Universities of Heidelberg , Graz and Vienna . In 1959 he was promoted to Dr. med. PhD. This was followed by further training as a specialist in internal medicine and in 1969 the habilitation at the University of Heidelberg. From 1970 to 1973 he was a professor at the Medical Faculty of the University of Giessen . From 1973 to 1976 he was a member of the Scientific Council and professor at the University of Bonn . From 1976 to 1999 Geisler was chief physician at the medical clinic at St. Barbara Hospital in Gladbeck.

Geisler was an expert on the Enquête Commission on Law and Ethics of Modern Medicine from 2000 to 2002 and from 2003 to 2005 on the Enquête Commission on Ethics and Law in Modern Medicine of the German Bundestag. He was also a deputy member of the ethics committee of the North Rhine Medical Association .

Geisler's research areas were internal medicine , bioethical issues of the time and doctor-patient communication .
