Lion Island is an uninhabited island in the Thames above the Old Windsor Lock , near Old Windsor , Berkshire . The island is narrow and forested. It is separated from the north side of the mainland by a narrow channel. The island lies above the Old Windsor Weir and the entrance to the New Cut , which leads to the Old Windsor Lock.

The island is the remainder of what were once three elongated parallel islands that were on this site before the Old Windsor Lock was built. The other islands were Nickcroft Ait and Newman's Bucks, between the two .
