production

The music for the film Lion - The Long Way Home was composed by Dustin O'Halloran and Volker Bertelmann alias Hauschka. The German composer became known for his pieces of music played with the help of prepared pianos. The director Garth Davis had attended a Bertelmann concert in Melbourne, at which the musician had described on stage that such a concert seemed like a train ride through different cities to him. Davis liked this picture, and that's exactly the kind of music he wanted for his film. Bertelmann worked for six months in Los Angeles with his friend Dustin O'Halloran on the music for the almost finished film.
