Lionello De Felice
Lionello De Felice (born September 9, 1916 in Montoro Inferiore , † December 14, 1989 in Rome ) was an Italian screenwriter and film director .
Life
De Felice, son of a noble family (this is how his father, a baron , married the first cousin of Pope Leo XIII , Baroness Clelia Ianotti Pecci), lived for a few years in Naples and later in Rome, where he graduated in law . However, he turned to writing and wrote short stories, soon also the first screenplays for films.
After attending the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia , he became assistant to Alessandro Blasetti , with whom he worked until 1948. In 1951 he made his debut as a director with Senza bandiera and directed several notable films in the following years, including the excellent I tre ladri with Totò . In the 1960s he devoted himself to mythological and historical films . In 1969 he met Blasetti for the last time when he took over the direction of the second staff for his Simon Bolivar .
