Montoro Inferiore merged with Montoro Superiore on December 3, 2013 to form the new municipality of Montoro. On December 31, 2013, the municipality had 10,617 inhabitants on an area of ​​19.49 km². The neighboring municipalities were Bracigliano (SA), Contrada , Fisciano (SA), Forino , Mercato San Severino (SA) and Montoro Superiore. The municipalities included Borgo, Figlioli, Misciano, Piano, Piazza di Pandola, Preturo, San Bartolomeo and San Felice.
