Gisela Wiese spent her childhood with her grandparents, who, as staunch Protestants in the spirit of the Confessing Church, helped Jews against the National Socialists. V. with and observed the trials against RAF members. Converted to Catholicism after the war, she was vice-president of the German section of the international Catholic peace movement Pax Christi from 1990 to 2000 , and honorary president since 2000. In her engagement she sought the side of the victims. So when she publicly pondered military intervention in the Balkan War in 1995 , one of the most violent confrontations at Pax Christi since the movement was founded broke out. As a contemporary witness, Wiese warned of new forms of nationalism and right-wing extremism in many events and school visits, lectures and church services .
