Liretta

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Liretta , also Lireta , was a so-called lightweight, the small or light pound, and was used for finer goods such as silk , indigo , wax and spices . The measure was common in Bergamo (Lombardy) and in the canton of Ticino . With Libretta it was named as a measure of weight in the Austrian Lombardy . The measure was also calculated for the retail trade and was considered a light pound. Middle name was also Liretta.

In addition, a silver coin in Italy bore this designation.

Mass unit

  • 1 liretta = 12 ounces = 325.128 grams or 326.013 grams or 330 7/20 grams
  • 25 lirette = 1 rubbio or peso sottile
  • Ticino 1 Liretta = ⅜ Libbra grosso (heavy pound)
  • Crema 1 libretta = 267 4/9 grams

The difference between the light and heavy pounds was the number of ounces of equal weight (12 = 32).
