Lirum, larum dipperstick
Lirum, larum Löffelstiel , also spelled Lirumlarum Löffelstiel , is an old folk song for children. It was first written down in 1808 by Clemens Brentano and Achim von Arnim in their collection of old folk songs, with the title Des Knaben Wunderhorn .
Folk song
The variant printed in vol. 3 of the Des Knaben Wunderhorn collection has no notes, but does indicate that the song was sung "when the children stir their hot soup."

Lirum larum Loͤffelſtiel,
old women eat a lot,
young people have to fist,
bread is in the chest, the sea
is next to it,
what a funny life! "
Later compilations contain a melody, such as the variant printed in one of the song booklets German folk songs by Johann Lewalter from 1890–94.
Counting rhyme
A counting rhyme with the same title was cited as early as 1931 . "Lirum, larum, Löffelstiel" is still used today as a counting rhyme.
"Lirum, larum, dipper,
those who can not,
can not do much
lirum, larum, leak,
and you're gone."
Other variants are also known, for example one from the time of the GDR .
ZDF cooking program
Lirum, larum Löffelstiel - A children's cooking course on ZDF was the title of a cooking program for children that was broadcast on ZDF from January 1974 . The name of the show is based on the rhyme. The motto was slightly changed and read Lirum, larum Löffelstiel - if you can't do that, you can't do much .
In the studio, several children were introduced to cooking under supervision. They were also informed about dangers.
A cookbook of the same name by Ingeborg Becker was published by Falken-Verlag for the program. The light blue book is held in landscape format and shows the cartoon character of a cook who kicks an egg into a pan that he is holding in his right hand. There are several cookbooks of the same name and books from other subject areas.
In addition, a cooking course LP was released in 1974 on the Intercord label, accompanied by music. Franz Löffelstiel was spoken by Gerd Duwner ; Harold Faltermeyer took over the sound engineering .
