The Lise-Meitner-Society for the equality of women in the natural sciences and mathematics within and outside the academic career eV (short Lise-Meitner-Gesellschaft eV or LMG ) is a nationwide association founded by young women scientists, which promotes equal opportunities and Make women visible in STEM subjects .

Goals and Organization

The aim of the LMG is the actual equality of the sexes in training and work in the MINT subjects and in society in general.

In addition, the LMG promotes networking and the exchange of experiences between women of all career levels from all scientific and mathematical disciplines and strengthens students with a scientific-mathematical background and interest.

Another important concern of the LMG is the promotion of the application and implementation of results and recommendations for action from the social sciences and in particular gender research, as well as sensitizing the general public to the position of women in the natural sciences and mathematics.

The LMG is divided into nationwide thematic groups and regional groups in various cities.

The main project of the LMG is the conceptualization, organization and further development of the conference I, Scientist .

I, Scientist - The Conference on Gender, Career Paths and Networking

I, Scientist is an annual international conference in Berlin on gender equality and equal opportunities as well as career paths and networks, especially in the (natural, engineering) sciences, mathematics and computer science. It is aimed primarily at students, doctoral candidates and graduates and is supported by many universities, institutes and research organizations.

The aim of the conference is to present a wide variety of career paths that are possible after graduation or doctorate; Problems and solutions e.g. B. to discuss unconscious, gender-based biases or the compatibility of family and studies / work and at the same time to make inspiring people, especially women, visible as role models. The conference is open to all genders.
