Liselotte Kuntner

Liselotte Kuntner (born February 18, 1935 ) is a qualified physiotherapist and ethnologist .

Life and research

She has been concerned with the subject of childbearing posture since the 1970s and was best known for her book Die Gebärhaltung der Frau , published in 1985 . Pregnancy and childbirth from a historical, ethnological and medical point of view and other publications on cross- cultural obstetrics. For this purpose she went on numerous research and study trips. From 1989 to 1999 she was a lecturer at the ethnological seminar at the University of Zurich. Liselotte Kuntner now lives in Küttigen in Switzerland.

On the occasion of her seventieth birthday, Wulf Schiefenhövel described her as "one of the protagonists of the vertical as the natural childbearing posture and has helped shape the practice in our clinics and birthing centers with the Maia obstetric stool that she significantly developed ".

Since 17 October 2005 she has been an honorary member of the Association ethnomedicine eV
