As is customary in central Upper Austria , there are and still existed a number of farms in the urban area of Linz , many of them stately square ones . Only after the establishment of the Hermann-Göring-Werke and expansion of Linz into an industrial city in the time of National Socialism from 1938 and the simultaneous expansion of the city and the development of agricultural areas did the originally rural periphery of Linz become urban districts. In connection with this, numerous farms disappeared or agricultural use was given up. Even today, numerous street names are a reminder of the rural tradition in Linz.

This list contains the farms in today's urban area of ​​Linz, including those that no longer exist, and is arranged according to the statistical districts that have existed since 2014.

			Riesenhof	Riesenhofstrasse 6 location	The name Riesenhof is derived from the Ries family who once owned it. He passed on to the Grubmüller family. In 1882 Josef Beicht became the owner and opened a bathing establishment. In 1889 the Riesenhof burned down. In 1890, Beicht built a hydropathic institute under the direction of the hydrotherapist Dr. Leopold Winternitz , which was also the first to be built in Austria according to Sebastian Kneipp's method. In 1894 Dr. Ignaz Fränkl owner, who redesigned the bath into a family bath with popular excursion restoration, which was closed in 1925. Fränkl sold to the state of Upper Austria and in 1926 Hans Feichtlbauer had the farm converted into a home for children and mothers. During the Second World War, a tuberculosis facility was housed here, which was moved to Gmunden , Cumberland Castle in 1948 ; the building again served as a children's hospital. The existing technical school was upgraded to a social academy in 1971. In 1976 the nursery was closed and integrated into the children's hospital. The Riesenhof was used as the home of the agricultural school until 2009, when it was sold and converted into rental apartments in 2011.
