List of Linz excursion inns

In Linz and the surrounding area, there was a tradition of excursion inns , which dwindled in the post-war period and with the advent of motorization in the 1960s. Many traditional inns, especially on Freinberg, closed and the buildings were demolished.

In the list, the restaurants that still exist today are highlighted in bold .

Freinberg

  • Binder im Rath, Roseggerstrasse / Freinbergstrasse, a cider tavern, built from 1871 to 1972, demolished
  • Jägermayrhof , Römerstraße 98. Originally a forester's house from the 17th century, first mentioned in 1741 as Jägermayrhäusl, an inn from 1762 to 1955, in 1956 a house for refugees, since 1959 a training center for the Chamber of Labor
  • Milchmariandl, on Jägermayrstiege (today's residential building Römerstrasse 97), built around 1860 to 1970, demolished
  • Paradiesgarten, Römerstraße 92, built around 1860. Since 1952 the building has housed a municipal kindergarten
  • Wienerwald , Freinbergstrasse 18
  • To the beautiful view, on the Freienberg with 360 ° panoramic view, built 1868 to 1970, demolished. The Franz-Josefs-Warte was built next to the inn in 1888

St. Peter

In St. Peter / Zizlau there were several inns until 1938, it was a popular excursion destination for the people of Linz. Today the Vöest stands here.
