List of abandoned buildings in Linz
The list of abandoned structures in Linz contains those buildings that were either destroyed or demolished as planned. These buildings once shaped the cityscape of Linz and some are now under monument protection.
Sacred buildings
- Old parish church St. Antonius , Einfaltstraße, built by Curt Kühne in 1932/35, only partially completed, demolished in 1980. See also St. Antonius Parish Church (Linz) .
- Old branch church Keferfeld , Landwiedstrasse / Losensteinerstrasse, built in 1930 by Hans Schachermayr, destroyed in the Second World War. See also Keferfeld parish church .
- Old parish church Kleinmünchen , Dauphinestrasse , demolished in 1930, today the Quirinus-Hof apartment block is located here . See also Kleinmünchen parish church .
- Old parish church St. Peter , built in the 12th century, demolished in 1938 with the whole town of St. Peter / Zizlau, today VÖEST is located here . See also the parish church of St. Peter (Linz) .
- Nikolaikirche (Urfahr) , profaned under Emperor Joseph II, rebuilt several times, the rest of the building was demolished in 1975, today the New Town Hall is located here.
Secular buildings
- Alte Landesfrauenklinik , Lederergasse opposite the Severinkirche , demolished around 2008.
- Old main train station with hook construction and train bus departure point, demolished in 2002 and replaced by a new building in the same place.
- Altes Unfallkrankenhaus Linz , Blumauerplatz, demolished around 2008, today the music theater is located here .
- Noble seat Lustenfelden (Kaplanhof), Kaplanhofstrasse / Nietzschestrasse, destroyed in the war, the rest of it demolished around 1950, today the federal educational university.
- Figulyschule , Figulystraße, demolished around 1950.
- Freight station , Linienstrasse / Edeltraud-Hofer-Strasse, demolished in 2006, today the Green Center housing estate .
- Grand Hotel de l'Europe , Mozartstrasse, built 1927/28, later police headquarters, demolished in 1982/83, today fashion house C & A.
- Hatschek villa of the industrialist Ludwig Hatschek on the Bauernberg, Auf der Gugl, demolished around 1970, today the Chamber of Agriculture.
- Bundesbahn heating house , Raimundstraße / Heizhausstraße, demolished around 2005, area currently undeveloped ( Gstettn ).
- Hotel Weinzinger , Untere Donaulände / Adalbert-Stifter-Platz, demolished in 1962, today the Generali-Haus is located here.
- Linz share brewery and malt factory Ludwig Hatschek , later Glashütte Worf & Co., Kapuzinerstraße, demolished around 1975, today diocesan house.
- Local train station of the Linz Local Railway , Coulinstraße / Weingartshofstraße, demolished around 2007.
- Milchhof Linz , dairy, Garnisonstrasse / Semmelweisstrasse, built in 1953, the business was closed in 1997 and broken up in 2002/03, today the Linz University of Applied Sciences is here.
- Poschacher Brewery , Poschacherstraße, demolished in 1987, today the Brau Union office building.
- Urfahr Remise , Wagenhalle, Landgutstraße, demolished around 1985, today the Remisenhof housing estate . The office wing was preserved.
- Schärdinger Milchhalle , Blumauerplatz (today Am Volksgarten), built around 1955,demolishedaround 2010 during the construction of the Linz Music Theater .
- Hagen Castle , demolished in 1963, today Bruckner University .
- Solo factory , match factory, Unionstrasse approx. Hanuschstrasse, blown up in 1979.
- Südbahnhofhalle , at Südbahnhofmarkt , war damaged, demolished around 1950.
- Karl Schadler clay furnace factory , Lederergasse / Stefan-Fechter-Weg, demolished around 1985, today the Schadlergrund housing estate . The old archway at the entrance has been preserved.
- Volksfesthalle on Hessenplatz, war damaged, demolished around 1950.
- Volksgartensalon , Volksgartenstrasse, classicist building, damaged in World War II, demolished in the 1950s.
- Water barracks , Untere Donaulände / Honauerstraße / Fabrikstraße, demolished around 1960, today around the Bruckner office center.
- VÖEST factory hotel , Hausleitnerweg, built around 1939, demolished around 1990.
- Wollzeugfabrik , Untere Donaulände, blown up in 1969.
- Fabigan & Feichtinger brickworks , Kudlichsraße / Robert-Stolz-Straße / Reisebauerstraße, burned down around 1968, demolished, today there are apartment blocks here.
- Ziegelei Oberösterreichische Baugesellschaft , Ziegeleistraße, destroyed in the war, today the Linz stadium stands here .
