The Accident Hospital Linz ( UKH Linz for short ) is an AUVA hospital in the Upper Austrian capital Linz . Every year around 6,000 inpatient and 51,000 outpatient cases are treated.

Medical equipment

The trauma hospital in Linz is a specialty hospital for trauma surgery , microsurgery and orthopedics . Until 2016, the UKH Linz also had a ward for severe burns, which, however, had to be closed due to a lack of case numbers.

history

The UKH's first location was at the Blumauerkreuzung in Linz and opened on November 5, 1951. Numerous renovations were carried out between 1968 and 1977, such as the establishment of an intensive care unit , a central sterilization unit and a central X-ray department. In 1988 a helicopter landing pad was built on the nearby Lenaustraße, and in the following year an emergency doctor's vehicle (NAW) was put into operation in cooperation with the Samaritan Association .

In 2002, construction work began on a new building on Garrisonstrasse east of the city center. In July 2005 we moved into the new building, which also includes a staff residence and business premises.

The first medical director was the trauma doctor Jörg Böhler . Rudolf Streli held this office from 1971 to 1986 , then Georg Kukla from 1987 to 2000 . Albert Kröpfl was medical director from 2001 until his mutual resignation on October 14, 2013 on charges and subsequent conviction of serious commercial fraud. On July 1, 2014, senior physician Klaus Katzensteiner took over the medical management of the UKH.
