List of honorary citizens of Bad Birnbach

The honorary citizenship is the highest municipal award of the market Bad Birnbach . The municipal council honors citizens whose work should go down in the history of the market. So far, four people have been made honorary citizens.

The honorary citizens of the Bad Birnbach market

  1. Hans Putz (* April / May 1939)
    mayor
    Awarded on October 5, 1984
    Putz had been a member of the municipal council and 2nd mayor since 1966. From 1972 to 1984 he was 1st mayor of the municipality of Birnbach. During his term of office, the municipality expanded as part of the regional reform. In 1972/73 he was one of the initiators of the thermal water drilling, which initiated the development of tourism in Birnbach. In recognition of the special merits and the outstanding, loyal and fruitful work for the well-being of the community of Birnbach, he was made an honorary citizen.
  2. Alfred Dick (1927-2005)
    Minister of State
    Awarded on January 29, 1988
    Dick was Bavarian State Minister for Environmental Issues from 1977 to 1990. He was a strong advocate of making the place a market.
  3. Sebastian Schenk (1929–1998)
    District President
    Decision on November 3, 1998
    From 1978 to 1998 Schenk was the district council president of Lower Bavaria. He was chairman of the Birnbach thermal baths association. Schenk died before being granted honorary citizenship.
  4. Erwin Brummer (born October 20, 1939 - † September 26, 2014)

    Awarded on October 4, 2008
    Brummer was 1st Mayor of Bad Birnbach for 24 years. During his tenure (1984-2008) the place developed into one of the leading tourist destinations in Bavaria. He was made an honorary citizen in recognition and thanks to all citizens for his exemplary behavior towards the market in Bad Birnbach.
  5. Manfred Hölzlein (born April 29, 1942)
    District President
    Awarded on September 21, 2013
    Hölzlein was appointed honorary citizen of the market for his 35 years of service for Bad Birnbach in recognition of his services in the period from 1978 to 1986 as an association councilor in the Birnbach thermal baths association and from 1998 to 2013 as district council president and chairman of the Birnbach thermal baths association. During this time, Mr. Hölzlein had a decisive influence on the development of Rottal Terme and tourism in Bad Birnbach.
