List of Freyung's honorary citizens

The honorary citizenship is the highest distinction of the Lower Bavarian district town Freyung .

According to the statute on honors of the city of Freyung issued in 1970 , it can be awarded to personalities who have made outstanding contributions to the city. Every citizen of the city of Freyung is entitled to submit proposals. The city council decides on proposals in a closed session. A certificate is issued for the appointment as an honorary citizen. It is carried out in a solemn form, usually at a meeting of the city council. The granting of honorary citizenship is limited to ten living personalities. Honorary citizens are invited to the city's festive events as guests of honor. The honor can be revoked because of unworthy behavior with a majority of two thirds of the voting members of the city council.

Since 1970 a total of 7 people have received this honor.
