Carl Christian von Seeger

Carl Christian Gottlob Seeger , from 1801 Freiherr von Seeger , (born December 21, 1773 in Bietigheim ; † May 24, 1858 ) was a Württemberg hydraulic engineer .

Life

Seeger, a son of Johanna Louise von Seeger and her husband, the director of the High Charles School Christoph Dionysius von Seeger , attended this educational institution from 1780. In 1787 he was praised there for "excellent and noble behavior", in 1791 he received a prize for "arts composition" and in 1792 he became a lieutenant. His military career led him in 1798 further to the quartermaster patent , in 1801 he became captain in 1805 Major, in 1806 he was awarded the Major and Quartermaster General Lieutenant patent, a year later he was lieutenant colonel and colonel , and in 1811 finally Major General . As early as 1801, his father had been raised to the baron status.

In the same year Carl Christian von Seeger also became State Councilor and General Hydraulic Engineering Director in Württemberg. In this capacity he was temporarily the superior of Karl August Friedrich von Duttenhofers .

From 1836 to 1839, Seeger worked with Georg von Bühler on studies for railway lines in Württemberg , where Seeger was entrusted with the northern and western lines . He retired in March 1841 and received the commentary cross of the Order of the Württemberg Crown in the same year .

In 1797 and 1798, von Seeger undertook study trips on the subject of hydraulic engineering, which took him to Kassel , Saxony and Thuringia , but also to Holland and Austria . In 1837 he went to England to get to know the local railways.

family

Seeger married Caroline Zentgraf in 1803, a daughter of the princely Löwenstein court advisor Franz Reinhard Zentgraf. Several children were born from the marriage. The documents of the von Seeger family are in the main state archive in Stuttgart.
