The honorary citizenship is the highest municipal award the Upper Franconian town Seßlach .

The honorary citizens of the city of Sesslach

  1. Konrad Hartig (1864–1948)
    Teacher and homeland researcher
    Awarded in 1948
    Hartig came to Seßlach in 1897 and was the main teacher at the elementary school until 1928. He researched the history of Seßlach and published his results in a book. The square between the town hall and the church is named after him.
  2. Joseph Otto Kolb (1881–1955)
    Archbishop of Bamberg
    Awarded in 1948
    Kolb was born in Seßlach. The house where he was born (No. 74) stood between Gasthof Krone and Bornschlegel and burned down in 1905. He attended elementary school in Seßlach before he switched to the seminary in Bamberg. There he was appointed auxiliary bishop in 1935. From 1943 to 1955 he was Archbishop of Bamberg. A street in the Seßlach development area is named after him.
  3. Hans Reiser (1881–1968)
    Home keeper
    Awarded in 1951
    For many years, Reiser was the regional chairman of the Franconian Federation for Upper Franconia and, as a home nurse, was strongly committed to the preservation of his native town.
  4. Philomena Ochsenkühn (1894–1990)
    Niederbronn religious sister
    Awarded 1983
    Sister Philomena came to Seßlach in 1960 and cared for old and weak people in the Flender Hospital Foundation. In 1983 she said goodbye to Seßlach and returned to her mother house.
  5. Theodard Völkl (1912–1988)
    Niederbronn religious sister
    Awarded 1983
    Sister Theodard came to Seßlach in 1966, where she and Sister Philomena ran the Flender Hospital Foundation's nursing home. When they passed in 1983, the almost 100-year-old tradition of the Niederbronn Order in Seßlach came to an end.
