List of Prime Ministers of South Africa

From 1910 to 1984 the government of South Africa was led by a prime minister , initially in the Union of South Africa and from 1961 in the Republic of South Africa. This office was abolished during the term of office of Pieter Willem Botha with the new constitution (1984) and the office of president was given executive powers.

The constitutional reform of 1983 led to the abolition of the office of prime minister and that of a representative state president in 1984 and replaced them with the function of a state president with strong executive powers.
