List of neighborhoods in Chūō District of Tokyo
This list of the districts of the Tokyo district Chūō enumerates all today's districts in the area of Chūō , Tokyo Prefecture in the center of Tokyo . Only the clearly delimited areas are listed, as they are also used for postal addresses in Japan .
Many districts consist of several numbered quarters ( 丁目 , chōme ), which usually span several blocks. In some Tokyo districts, several districts are combined into one area ( 地域 , chiiki ). In Chūō, three areas are distinguished for historical reasons: The two areas Nihombashi and Kyōbashi correspond in the city of Tokyo , which existed until 1943, with the two districts of the same name, which merged in 1947 to create the Chūō district; the third area is Tsukishima, a new land area developed from 1892 on. The district name in the former Nihombashi district was prefixed in 1947 Nihombashi ; today there are three exceptions: Nihombashi, Higashi-Nihombashi and Yaesu 1-chōme.
