List of neighborhoods in the Sumida district of Tokyo

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This list of neighborhoods in Tokyo's Sumida District enumerates all districts in the area of Sumida , Tokyo Prefecture in northeast Tokyo . Only the clearly delimited areas are listed, as they are also used for postal addresses in Japan , but not the numerous former districts or place names that are still used as place names in individual cases.

Most districts consist of several numbered quarters ( 丁目 , chōme ), which usually span several blocks. In some districts of Tokyo, several districts are combined into one area. In Sumida, two areas are distinguished for historical reasons: The two areas Honjo and Mukōjima correspond to the two districts of the same name of the former city of Tokyo that existed until 1947 , through the merger of which the Sumida district was created.

The list is grouped by area and sorted alphabetically in Latin. The numbers of the chôme are listed after the name if applicable.
