List of synagogues in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Synagogues can be found in 42 cities in what is now the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . Of these, 18 have survived, some of which have been significantly modified. Most of these buildings were abandoned by their communities before 1933 or were not or only partially destroyed in 1938 due to their proximity to adjacent houses. Of the other 22, some were destroyed by the Nazis during the November pogroms in 1938 .

In Rostock (2004) and Schwerin (2008) new synagogues were built and ceremoniously consecrated.
