In December 1959, the Australian and Argentine governments agreed on the mutual establishment of diplomatic missions abroad . The Argentine government opened an embassy in Sydney in 1962 .

The ambassador in Buenos Aires is also regularly accredited by the governments in Montevideo and Asunción .

The address of the embassy is Villanueva 1400, Buenos Aires , previously the address was on the 8th floor of the Swissair Building at 846 Santa Fé Ave. Buenos Aires.
