List of British Vice Prime Ministers
The office of Deputy Prime Minister ( Deputy Prime Minister ) was first conferred on a member of the cabinet in the United Kingdom on February 19, 1942. After the office of the Vice-Prime Minister was set up in the Cabinet Office on June 8, 2001 , it became an independent department there on May 29, 2002, but was abolished on May 5, 2006. The office was not awarded in all governments and was therefore partially vacant for several years .
