List of Casio digital cameras
The product range of the Japanese company Casio also included digital cameras until 2018 . This article contains a list of the different models of the series produced. It ranges from the most recently produced EX series (Exilim) to the camera wristwatches to the previously discontinued QV series.
At the beginning of 2014 it became known that Casio was withdrawing completely from the market for digital cameras in Germany, at least for the time being. The last new camera was the ZR800, which launched in August 2013. Abroad, however, the cameras are still available and new models are still coming. The current EX is the EX-ZR 3500 (as of April 2015). In May 2016, Casio returned to the German digital camera market after a break of almost two years. The EX-FR100 had a completely new concept. The control unit and the camera can be separated and the camera can be connected via Bluetooth to the outdoor Smartwatch WSD-F10, which appeared almost simultaneously.
In 2018 it was announced by Casio that the company would not produce any more digital cameras. The reason given was the steadily falling sales figures.
EX series
EX stands for Exilim.
With the Exilim series, Casio reopened the compact camera market. The Exilim card series in particular is characterized by its extreme compactness, large displays and an elegant design. There are different product lines in the Exilim series such as B .:
- EX-S (Card)
- EX-Z (zoom)
- EX-F & EX-FH (High Speed)
- EX-G (G-Shock)
- EX-FR100

QV series
At the beginning of 1996, Casio launched the QV series with a different approach than the competition. Conventional digital cameras were based on the principle of an analog camera, there was only a small viewfinder and, if at all, only saw the photo taken on a small display after it was released . Casio, on the other hand, made it possible to see the image on the display and also to use it as a viewfinder .
Not only that was unusual. The optics could be swiveled separately from the display, so that you always had an optimal viewing angle on the display, even if you wanted to take photos above normal head height.
The following is an overview of all QV models with notes on the most striking technical details .

WQV series
WQV stands for Wrist Camera Watch.
With the Wrist Camera Watch series (wristwatch cameras) Casio finally broke new ground. Long before security personnel were faced with the question of how to prevent industrial espionage with cell phones with photo functions, there was this new development from Casio - probably the smallest freely available cameras in the world.
In addition to the usual functions such as alarm clock and stopwatch, it was now possible for the first time to snap photos from the wrist. The quality did not reach the level of digital cameras of the time, but at least it was suitable for snapshots.
