The literary gazette (subtitle: containing peculiarities about books and writing, bibliographic anecdotes, learned rarities and peculiarities, literary-historical articles; especially the latest domestic and foreign books, reviews, news from writers ) was published by Mayer from January 1819 to December 1822 in Vienna published literary magazine and a literary-bibliogeafisches newsletter.

Permanent rubrics were:

  • Lists of domestic books (bibliographic information only)
  • Lists of foreign books (bibliographic information only)
  • Short reviews and table of contents, a large part of which consists of quotations from other publications
  • Miscommunication (awarding of titles, awards, competitions, news of death, etc.)
