Littelfuse is an American manufacturer of electronic components. The company was founded in 1927 by Edward V. Sundt, who previously worked for General Electric and Stewart-Warner , a manufacturer of I-panels for the automotive industry. With his previous employers, he encountered the problem of measuring devices that burned out quickly and were not adequately protected against overcurrent. Sundt then began developing electrical fuses , which laid the foundation for his company.

Sundt retired from the company in 1965 and in 1968 Littelfuse was acquired by Tracor , an electronics manufacturer for the defense industry. In 1991, after Tracors went bankrupt, Littelfuse was spun off and has been independent again since then. The company's product range includes fuses and sensors for industrial and military applications, as well as components for automotive engineering. Various electronic components such as diodes , relays , switches , inductors , varistors and thyristors are also offered.
