LittleCMS ( LCMS ) is a cross-platform available free software for color management . The software consists of a very slim program library (liblcms) (with a memory requirement of less than 100k ). There is also a graphical tool for creating color profiles, LPROF (or LCMS Profiler ), and several command line tools . They include tifficc and jpegicc to embed ICC profiles in TIFF or JFIF files, as well as icc2ps for PostScript files and icclink to generate DeviceLink profiles.

history

LCMS was launched in 1998 by Marti Maria, was one of the first free color management systems and is the only one with a graphical user interface . At the beginning of 2004 Maria stopped supporting LPROF. In August 2005 it became a SourceForge project that is now being overseen by others. As part of the release of Java as free software, the non-free color management component of the JDK was replaced by LittleCMS.

distribution

It is the most common of its kind on Linux systems. It is used in programs such as Scribus , Firefox , CinePaint , Krita , Picasa and ImageMagick , among others .
