Little Switzerland ( German: little Switzerland ) is a settlement on community-free area ( unincorporated community ) in McDowell County in the west of the US -amerikanischen state of North Carolina . Little Switzerland is located in the Pisgah National Forest near the border with the US state Tennessee .
history
Little Switzerland was founded in 1910. The name is a reference to the surrounding mountains, which are supposed to be reminiscent of the Swiss Alps .
