Lixa is a town in the Felgueiras district of the Porto district in Portugal . The city had 4,233 inhabitants in 2004 and consists of the municipalities of Borba de Godim , Macieria da Lixa , Vila Cova da Lixa and Santão . Translated into German, the name is sandpaper .

The place was elevated to a city on August 30, 1995.
