Llandovery ( Welsh Llanymddyfri ) is a minority town in the county of Carmarthenshire in Wales ( United Kingdom ).

history
The city goes back to the Roman camp Alabum , which was built between 50 and 60 AD and lasted until the 4th century. Today only a few remains can be seen on the hill Llanfair-ar-y-Bryn around the church of St. Mary.
geology
A geological series , the Llandovery , was named after the city. The name was proposed by Roderick Murchison in 1859.

The Llandovery Castle is a Norman castle from the 12th century.
