Llandudno from the air
|
Llandudno is a district of Cape Town in South Africa . In 2011 it had 571 inhabitants. It is located directly on the Atlantic coast and has two beaches. The name goes back to the Welsh place of the same name .
However, the place is not a typical tourist destination as there are no tourist facilities. There is accommodation there, but no restaurants or shops. Especially in the warm seasons there is hardly any parking space, so that at certain times the access to the place is blocked so that the quite wealthy residents are not disturbed. Sandy Bay Beach , an unofficial nudist beach , is within walking distance .
The wreck of the tanker Romelia , which was damaged here in 1977, was visible off the coast until a storm in 1996 .
