Hassendorf ( Low German Hassendbod ) is a municipality in Lower Saxony in the Sottrum municipality in the Rotenburg (Wümme) district . In the south of the municipality, the Wümme touches the municipality.

history

The place was first mentioned in 1299 as Hercenthorpe in a document from the Archbishops of Bremen . In 1813, the battle of Hassendorf took place near the place as a result of Napoleon's defeat in the Russian campaign on the military road built by Napoleon, which today forms the B 75 .

Place name

The old names of the place are around 1299 Hercenthorpe, around 1320 Hertzenthorp, first half of the 15th century Hersendorppe, 1456 Hersendorpe, around 1540 Harsendorp, 1567 Haßendorp and later Hassendbody.

The municipal council elected councilor Klaus Dreyer (SPD) as honorary mayor for the current electoral term. He has held the office since 1994.

Blazon : In silver, a brick-built, red double-wing bar, accompanied by a blue acorn at the top and a blue shepherd's shovel at the bottom.

The brick beam indicates the former brickworks in the village, and its H-shape stands for Hassendorf's initial. The colors red and white stand on the one hand for belonging to Lower Saxony, in combination with blue on the other hand for the French who built a military road here (today the B 75). The shepherd's shovel symbolizes sheep farming.

Culture

The community center has existed since 1975. The Hassendorfer Singkreis was founded in 1975.

Club life

The TV Hassendorf (founded in 1947) has over 500 members and is active in the sports of football, table tennis, gymnastics and gymnastics.

The Hassendorf volunteer fire brigade with youth fire brigade organizes the Low German theater week (beginning of December) and the Easter fire (Easter Sunday) every year.

The Hassendorfer Schützenverein organizes the shooting festival (Ascension Day and the Saturday after) and the harvest festival with parade (second Saturday in September) every year.
