About this picture

history

The name Rockstedt can be interpreted in different ways. One variant says that the name refers to a Kolk or Wodansrabendorf (from de Rood = raven ). On the other hand, the name could also denote a rye or fruit plant . Documented Rockstedt was first in 1153 as Rocstede mentioned and as "Kolkrabendorf" (from Rook understood Raven).

The name Ostereistedts is no longer unique to clarify that he could "on oaks be due workshop", but just as a settler named Eike (Eckehard) as a common root of Easter and Wester Eystedte Eystede (the latter now Rhadereistedt ). Ostereistedt lies exactly on the watershed between the Elbe and Weser . The water in the northern part flows over ditches and streams in the Hamme and Weser. The water in the southern part flows into the Elbe via Bade and Oste .
