Wilstedt (Low German: Wils) is a municipality in the Tarmstedt municipality and belongs to the Rotenburg (Wümme) district in Lower Saxony .

history

Wilstedt was first mentioned in the text "The miraculous healings at the grave of Willehads" , which the Archbishop of Bremen Ansgar wrote in 860. Another reliable documentary mention took place in 1124, when Pope Calixt II awarded the court in Willenstede to the Rastede monastery.

Outsourcing

On July 1, 1976, an area with then almost 50 inhabitants (Wilstedter Moor) was assigned to the neighboring community of Grasberg.

Municipal council

The council of the municipality of Wilstedt consists of eleven council members and councilors. This is the specified number for the member municipality of an integrated municipality with a population between 1001 and 2000 inhabitants. The council members are elected for a five-year term by local elections. The current term of office began on November 1, 2016 and ends on October 31, 2021.

The last local election on September 11, 2016 resulted in the following:

The local council elected the council member Traugott Riedesel (SPD) as honorary mayor for the current electoral term.

coat of arms

The coat of arms shows a black Verden cross of nails on a silver background , which reminds of the affiliation to the diocese of Verden . In the back, a golden figure of Archbishop Ansgar of Bremen is shown on a blue background, holding a bishop's staff in his right hand and a church in his left. This is reminiscent of the first mention of the place by Ansgar.

Sports

The MTV Wilstedt club with its numerous divisions, as well as the tennis club, which was founded in 1971, and the shooting club, provide opportunities for sporting activities . There is also a public swimming pool as well as a sports hall and a football field with artificial turf at the school.

Economy and Infrastructure

Wilstedt has a healthy, slowly growing economy that benefits from the convenient location between Bremen and Hamburg. In general, the zoning plan shows mixed areas so that a simple business settlement is possible at any time. There are also two business parks.

traffic

Wilstedt is on the Wilstedt – Tostedt railway line . This is shut down from Wilstedt until shortly before Zeven. Draisine traffic takes place there in the season from Wilstedt train station. Due to the inadequate local public transport, a rural car sharing model is operated in Wilstedt to maintain the mobility of residents.

education

The kindergarten and primary school are centrally located in the village. There is a good school bus connection to the secondary school (Hauptschule, Realschule and Gymnasiale Oberstufe) in the neighboring village four kilometers away.
