history

Hipstedt was a pure farming village until the middle of the 19th century. With the inauguration of the railway line from Geestemünde to Stade at the end of the 19th century, the place developed in the direction of the Heinschenwalde train station. "This development experienced a great boom when the Marine Blocking Equipment Office was established in the nearby Hinzel Forest and the associated construction of 50 apartments for the employees there. While around 130 people lived in Hipstedt in 1850, the number of inhabitants tripled in eighty years. In the meantime, in addition to the marine settlement, as the new district was called, other building areas have been designated. In the meantime, this district has received its name Hipstedt-Löh based on the forest area Löh. Church, children's play area, elementary school have been built in the last 50 years. "

During the First World War in Hipstedt-Heinschenwalde, there was a camp on the Bokelah road for around 1,000 Russian prisoners of war, who were mainly used for cultivating peatlands, forestry work and building dikes. The prisoner-of-war cemetery with the graves of 32 Russian prisoners of war from the First World War and 1 Polish slave laborer who died in 1944 is also nearby.

coat of arms

DEU Hipstedt COA.svg
Blazon : "In gold (yellow) over a silver (white) picket fence with black tips on a green mountain covered with a silver (white) river, a green oak branch with two upright acorns."
Justification of the coat of arms: Wall and palisade fence indicate the prehistoric fortification "Heinschenwall" near a former ford in the upper reaches of the Geeste . The oak branch refers to the extensive oak forests that used to exist in this area, while the acorns are to be interpreted as a sign of fertility on the merging of the two districts Heinschenwalde and Hipstedt to one community. The wavy band in the lower part of the coat of arms indicates the Geeste river, the source of which can be found on the Friday farm in the Hipstedt district.

Town twinning
