Llangollen and Corwen Railway
The Llangollen and Corwen Railway was a British railway company based in Denbighshire in Wales .
history
The Llangollen and Corwen Railway was established on August 6, 1860. It was the continuation of the Vale of Llangollen Railway from Ruabon to Llangollen . The company's 15.5-kilometer route led through the Dee valley from Llangollen to Corwen . The route was planned by Thomas Brassey .
But when it opened on May 1, 1865, it was operated by the Great Western Railway . On August 7, 1896 this took over the Llangollen and Corwen Railway.
The line was shut down on December 13, 1964 as part of the Beeching ax . From 1975 a group of volunteers began to rebuild it as a museum railway. The Llangollen Railway currently operates the route between Llangollen and Corwen.
