Lloyd Smucker

Lloyd K. Smucker (born January 23, 1964 in Lancaster , Pennsylvania ) is an American politician . Since January 3, 2017 he has represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

In 1981, Lloyd Smucker graduated from Lancaster Mennonite High School . He then attended Lebanon Valley College and Franklin & Marshall College . He worked in the construction industry and ran the family-owned construction company Smucker Company for 25 years . He also became a management consultant. In his home country he is a member of numerous organizations and associations.

Politically, he joined the Republican Party . He began his political career as a member of the West Lampeter Municipality Planning Commission . There he was also mayor for two terms. He served in the Pennsylvania Senate from 2009 to 2016 . In the congressional elections of 2016 Smucker was in the 16th electoral district of Pennsylvania against Democrat Christina Hartman in the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC chosen, where he succeeds on January 3, 2017 Joseph R. Pitts took that in 2016 no longer had run.

After the Pennsylvania constituency reorganization, he ran in the 11th district in the 2018 election. He prevailed against the Democrat Jessica King with 59.0% of the vote. His term of office begins on January 3, 2019 and ends in January 2021.
