Lluís Millet i Farga
Lluís Millet i Farga (* 1911 in Corfu , † 1976 in Porto ) was a Catalan cellist .
life and work
Lluís Millet was the nephew of Lluís Millet i Pagès , the founder of Orfeó Català . He began his studies with Gaspar Cassadó . After Cassadó left Barcelona, Millet continued his studies with Francesca Vidal de Capdevila (1880–1955). In 1927 he won the Barcelona Parramon Prize . Two years later he was unanimously awarded a grant from the Diputació de Barcelona to study in Paris. Accordingly, he went to in-depth studies at the École Normale de Musique in Paris, where he completed his musical training.
In Paris he achieved his first artistic success. He has received high praise from music critics. In 1931 and 1932 he gave numerous concerts in collaboration with the Banda Municipal de Barcelona in Barcelona, Badalona and other Catalan cities. The music critics praised his excellent technique and his expressive and flawless diction in the lecture.
From 1968 he worked as an orchestral soloist with the Orquestra Simfònica de Porto .
