Lluís Millet i Pagès
Lluís Millet i Pagès (born April 18, 1867 in El Masnou ; † December 7, 1941 in Barcelona ), known under the name Mestre Millet , was a musician and in 1891 co-founder of Orfeó Català .
Millet i Pagès studied composition with Felip Pedrell , among others .
Millet i Pagès is the author of Catalanesques (1891), Pregaria de la Verge del Remei and sacred songs for the people. He has composed some twenty Goigs , Catalan sacred songs, as well as a number of choral works , including the Cant de la senyera (1896) based on a poem by Joan Maragall and, in difficult times, a song of the Catalan Resistance. He wrote El cant popular religós (1912), La cançó popular catalana (1917) and El nostre ideal (1917). He died in 1941 and is buried in the Cementiri de Montjuïc cemetery.
In the Palau de la Música Catalana is a room named after him.
