Loïk Le Floch-Prigent (born September 21, 1943 in Brest , Finistère ) is a former high-ranking French manager. He was best known as Chairman of the Board of Elf Aquitaine between 1989 and 1993, and then as President of the French railway company SNCF from December 1995 to July 1996, when the investigation into the Elf affair began. He is the nephew of the Breton poet Maodez Glanndour .

Career

Le Floch-Prigent passed his exam in 1967 at the Institut national polytechnique de Grenoble (INPG). From 1981 to 1982 he was the cabinet director of the Minister for Industry, Pierre Dreyfus . Between 1982 and 1986 he was CEO of the pharmaceutical company Rhône-Poulenc . When he lost this position after a change of government, he received the post of CEO of the largest French company, the former state oil company Elf Aquitaine, on June 28, 1989 through the mediation of his "right hand", Alfred Sirven Retained August 1993. From August 4, 1993 to January 2, 1996, Le Floch-Prigent served as President of the state-owned Gaz de France . On December 20, 1995, he moved to the French national railway company, SNCF , where he was President until July 4, 1996. Between 1997 and 2003, Le Floch-Prigent offered itself internationally as an energy and transport consultant.

Honors

Officer of the Legion of Honor and the national order of le Mérite . Both orders are revoked.

Judgments and Investigations

In the Roland Dumas / Christine Deviers-Joncour trial on January 29, 2003, Le Floch-Prigent was sentenced to 30 months in prison and a fine of two million francs . Two days later he started his sentence in Fresnes (Val-de-Marne) .

As part of the process to the Elf affair , he was arrested on 4 July 1996 and spent six months in custody to 23 December 1996, when he was released on bail of 500,000 francs. On November 12, 2003, he was sentenced to five years in prison and a fine of 375,000 euros. He did not appeal this judgment. On April 8, 2004, he was released from prison on health grounds.
