from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Loÿs Pétillot ( October 10, 1911 - November 18, 1983 ) was a French comic book artist and illustrator.

Together with the scenarist René-Paul Groffe, Pétillot created the series Bob et Bobette (not to be confused with the French version of Suske and Wiske ), which was also released in album form from 1945. He did not use speech bubbles in the comic , but arranged the texts under the pictures. In Le Chemin de la Gloire , which Pétillot drew from 1949, speech bubbles were used for the first time. Other comics he drew in the 1950s and 1960s included Feux sur la Sierra and Pascal et Michèle Montfort . During this time, he also created various drawings on religious topics for Bayard magazine .

In the last years of his life he mainly worked as an illustrator. He signed his illustrations exclusively with his first name.
