Remarks

The polka was composed for Mardi Gras in 1867 and premiered at a concert on February 17th under the direction of the composer in the Volksgarten. In the same year he traveled to the world exhibition in Paris , where he also played this polka. However, the work was not as well received there as in Vienna. In London , where he subsequently traveled, the work was much better received. Today the polka is one of the composer's masterpieces. The title name was intended as a tribute to women. In 1899, Adolf Müller used parts of this work in the operetta Wiener Blut , which he composed based on motifs by Johann Strauss (son) .

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 4 minutes and 28 seconds. This time can vary somewhat depending on the conductor's musical conception.
