The local energy GmbH is a joint venture between public utilities and municipal power companies from Brandenburg and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern .

Emergence

Since it was founded in 1999, local energy had grown from 11 municipal utilities at the time to over 20 energy supply companies, making it the largest East German municipal utility network. In the meantime, the number of member companies has been reduced to the initial number.
