The local energy GmbH is a joint venture between public utilities and municipal power companies from Brandenburg and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern .

Emergence

Since it was founded in 1999, local energy had grown from 11 municipal utilities at the time to over 20 energy supply companies, making it the largest East German municipal utility network. In the meantime, the number of member companies has been reduced to the initial number.

The aim of the association is to get citizens and customers enthusiastic about their local energy supplier, from whom they are supplied with energy “cheaply and safely”. local energy bundles the marketing activities of the individual energy supply companies.

Awards

In December 2006, local energy gmbh and its affiliated energy supply companies received the electricity magazine award . The strom magazin editors justified their decision u. a. With the initiative PRO energy-saving lamp, local energy gmbh became an official partner of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Energy and Transport in September 2009 as part of the Sustainable Energy for Europe campaign.

Initiatives

In March 2007, local energy gmbh and its affiliated municipal utilities started the Pro energy-saving lamp initiative . The energy supply companies signed the following content on the domain pro-energiesparampe.de:

In May 2007 local energy gmbh started the internet platform L WIE LOKAL . The aim of L WIE LOKAL is to portray the social commitment of municipal utilities nationwide and thus to give the end consumer an overview of larger local projects. In the first step, the Local Energy Association provides information about a cooperation with the Eberswalde University of Applied Sciences, in which a market research study is being carried out as part of a university project.
