Loch Achray is a small freshwater lake on the southern edge of the Scottish Highlands . It is located eleven kilometers west of Callander in the Stirling Council Area between Loch Katrine and Loch Venachar in Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park .
Loch Achray is easily accessible by car from the east and south via the A821 . Since the road does not run directly on the shore, it hardly harms the picturesque appearance of the lake. There are no villages or other settlements directly on the lake, only the Loch Archay Hotel is about 300 m from the west bank.
With an average depth of only eleven meters, Loch Achray is very shallow compared to other Scottish lakes. The south side of Loch Achray is almost entirely forested. The lake is a popular destination for tourists and amateur photographers because of its picturesque location between Ben Venue and Ben Ledi . Anglers come mainly because of the numerous brown trout .
