Lochhouse Tower is a tower house near Moffat in the Scottish administrative division of Dumfries and Galloway .
history
The Johnstones of Core Head left the Tower House built mid-16th century.
In the 1970s, the castle was converted into a private residence. Historic Scotland has listed Lochhouse Tower as a Category B Historic Building.
description
The Lochhouse Tower has a rectangular floor plan with rounded corners. The building has three full floors and an attic. There is a pillar slab on the ground floor and the second floor is set back a little. At the approach to the roof, a balustrade of consoles runs around the building. The ground floor has a vaulted ceiling . The entrance leads to a staircase supported by a central column and to the wall chambers.
The building was made of quarry stone and has a slate roof.
