LocoRoco ( Japanese ロコロコ , Rokoroko ) is a Jump 'n' Run - Skill - video game for the PlayStation Portable . The game concept comes from Tsutomu Kouno , it was developed by Sony Computer Entertainment and released on June 23, 2006.

history

A meteorite strikes the calm and happy planet of the LocoRocos. The impact leaves no damage, but the rock brings evil creatures with it. Now it is up to LocoRoco to drive the creepy creatures off their planet.

Gameplay & technology

There are 5 worlds with 8 levels each. The aim of each level is to get a LocoRoco to the finish. If you eat certain plants en route, you can collect up to 19 more LocoRocos. These then merge with your own character and make them bigger. You can also find fruits, small flies and Mui Muis . In addition to the main game, there are three unlockable mini-games.

Sequels

LocoRoco Cocoreccho was released in Japan on September 17th, 2007 ! exclusively for the PlayStation 3 . The game is only available on PlayStation Network. A sequel to the PSP was also published in Germany on November 17, 2008. A remastered version of LocoRoco was released on the PlayStation 4 store on May 9, 2017 .

criticism

GamePro : “The trendy graphics, the original music rumble and the simple, fresh PSP“ tilting technique ”make Loco Roco a colorful action puzzle with a high replay value. The rather low level of difficulty is outweighed by the many bonus hiding spots. Since the Loco House editor is not particularly comfortable and the mini-games fall slightly off compared to the main adventure, the colorful hops could not scroll up to the »Genial« mark. "

Andreas Keser from gamezone : "" Loco Roco "is one of the craziest PSP games currently available. [...] All in all, this creative masterpiece turned out incredibly well, but unfortunately there are two major criticisms. On the one hand it is very short and on the other hand it is not exactly difficult. [...] A really extraordinary game! "

Kai from neXGam.de : “With this game of skill, Sony proves once again that they are at least as good at innovative game ideas as Nintendo. LocoRoco looks refreshingly different and also plays like that - a UMD full of charm! The splendid presentation and the sophisticated gameplay ensure pure fun, but the title lacks a little depth to achieve perfection. "

Awards

In 2006 the game won the GIGA-Maus in the category children from 10 years - the best console game .

LocoRoco won the 2007 Interactive Achievement Award from the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences (AIAS) in the categories Children's Game of the Year and Best Music Composition . The game was also nominated in the Outstanding Game Innovation category.
